While there are now nine Lamborghini dealers across Japan, spotting one of the supercars in traffic remains a rare event. So just imagine how surprised the folks in Yokohama felt when owners brought 200 of the exotic cars to the city to help celebrate “Lamborghini Day Japan 2018.”

Lamborghini invited owners, special guests and media, to the Yokohama Super Factory, a well-known film studio, that served as the hub for this year’s event.

A major attraction included the Asia-Pacific premiere of the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, a new flagship model that set a lap record of 6:44.97 minutes (for a production car) at the famed Nürburgring-Nordschleife in Germany.

Stefano Domenicali (above right), chairman and chief executive officer of Automobili Lamborghini, and Giorgio Starace, ambassador of Italy to Japan, pose with the Aventador SVJ following its introduction in Yokohama.

“Japan is a very important market for us,” said Domenicali. “I would like to reinforce our gratitude to the long-time patronage of our Japanese customers who have built such strong bonds with the marque.”

Attendees also had the chance to check out “Ad Personam,” the personalization program for Lamborghini, as well as an apparel and accessories collection called “Collezione Automobili Lamborghini,” plus the automaker’s motorsports activities dubbed “Squadra Corse.”

Owners drove their prancing bulls in a parade around central Yokohama, touring Minato Mirai, Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, and Yamashita Park. Spotted among the 200-plus cars were classic models, including the Miura, Countach, and LM002, along with the new Urus SUV, Aventador S, and Huracán.

Aventador SVJ, positioned at the pinnacle of current Lamborghini V12 supercars, has a planned production run of 900 units. The naturally aspirated 6.5L engine, rated at 770 hp (566 kW), and 720 Nm torque, is said to be the most powerful series production V12 engine produced by the automaker. Also included is a 7-speed Independent Shifting Road (ISR) gearbox, all-wheel drive, and four-wheel steering. The suggested retail price in Japan is ¥51,548,373 ($517,770 in U.S. including GGT).
