2026 Nissan LEAF Preview – Plus New Micra EV, Juke EV, Rogue e-POWER and More

Nissan announced an exciting array of new and enhanced models planned for global markets during a preview in Japan. The automaker offered a first look at the all-new LEAF electric vehicle (below), expected to go on sale later this year in the U.S. and Canada, followed by Japan and Europe.

The new LEAF will debut a crossover body style riding on the CMF-EV platform shared with Ariya. Styling brings to mind Nissan’s “Chill-Out” concept, with a sleek profile and futuristic detailing. Nissan said that LEAF will offer a new 3-in-1 EV powertrain with enhanced performance, an NACS charging port, 19-inch alloy wheels, and a panoramic moonroof.

Nissan’s additional new-model plans for North America during FY25 include a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) Rogue, the next-generation Sentra, and a refreshed Pathfinder. A new fourth-generation Rogue, fitted with Nissan’s latest e-POWER technology, is expected for FY26. While a completely new “adventure-focused” all-electric SUV is planned for late FY27.

Nissan in Europe is preparing to welcome the return of the iconic Micra, as a completely new all-electric model. With chic styling crafted by Nissan Design Europe based in London, the new Micra is planned to go on sale later this year, produced in collaboration with Renault.

Along with the new LEAF and Micra, Nissan Europe plans to update the Qashqai SUV with next-generation e-POWER technology. Meanwhile, the Nissan Juke is preparing to go all-electric in FY26, with bold styling influenced by the “Hyper-Punk” concept that debuted at the Japan Mobility Show.

New products planned for Japan in FY25 include the new LEAF, plus an updated Kei car. Nissan also plans to introduce a new generation of a popular lager minivan equipped with the latest version of e-POWER.

More than 1.6-million vehicles have been built globally with Nissan e-POWER since 2016. The technology includes a small gas engine, plus a lithium-ion battery, powering an electric motor that drives the wheels. The latest e-POWER system features a 1.5-liter gas engine and new 5-in-1 system that Nissan says shares components with its EV powertrain.

Note: Features, specifications, and launch timing for future global market models is subject to change without notice.
