Nissan Ariya NISMO Joins Performance Lineup in Japan – Tokyo Auto Salon 2024

By Steve Laser

Nissan generated plenty of excitement at the Tokyo Auto Salon with an array of NISMO performance models, including the debut of the new Ariya NISMO. It will join the GT-R NISMO, Fairlady Z NISMO, and Skyline NISMO when it goes on sale in Japan this spring.

Racing enthusiasts also received a close-up look at the third-generation Nissan e-4ORCE 04 Formula E. Body-wrapped with cherry blossom livery, the racecar is scheduled to compete in the Tokyo round of the Formula E Championship in March.

NISMO enhances the performance, appearance, and interior of the all-electric Ariya crossover. Modifications include aerodynamic improvements with race-derived technologies said to reduce drag and provide greater downforce at higher speeds.

Ariya’s exterior receives specially developed NISMO spoilers, side sills, and diffusers. Equipped with e-4ORCE all-wheel control, NISMO tuned chassis components and added 20-inch rigid alloy wheels with 255/45R20 performance tires. The results are said to include superior stability and turn-in, along with improved line-tracing and cornering.

NISMO improved the all-electric Ariya’s performance and plans to offer two versions of the new model. The NISMO B6 e-4ORCE, with preliminary output of 270 kW and 560 Nm torque, and 66 kWh battery capacity, plus the B9 e-4ORCE with 320 kW, 600 Nm, and 91 kWh.

Inside, the driver and passengers are treated to specially designed seats and trim, fitted with NISMO performance red accents and brand logos.

The seats appear to have deeper bolsters, suede-style upholstery, and signature red stitching. More information about the new Ariya NISMO is expected to be released by Nissan closer to its launch in Japan.

Note: Features and specifications for future Japan-market models are preliminary and subject to change without notice.
