Honda is planning to expand its electric vehicle lineup next year with the debut of the all-new O Series. The automaker held the world premiere of the O Saloon and O SUV prototypes at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Both are evolutions of concepts that Honda displayed at CES last year.
In addition to futuristic styling inside and out, the O Series will debut new technologies, including Honda’s vehicle operation system called ASIMO OS. The name pays homage to Honda’s friendly ASIMO, a humanoid walking robot that first appeared more than 20 years ago.
O SUV
Honda says the midsize O SUV will be the first O Series model to go into production at its EV Hub in Ohio. Launch plans call for a North American debut in the first half of 2026, with Japan, Europe, and other markets to follow.
From the B-pillars forward, the design brings to mind classic Hondas, including the CR-V. Based on Honda’s new EV architecture, the prototype features a steeply raked windshield, sporty wheels, and dark lower body elements. The front fascia presents a futuristic lighting environment with pixelated, multi-LEDs.
The rear view is dramatically different and appears to be inspired by its electrified sibling, the O Saloon. Additional design cues for the O SUV prototype include a large glass roof, wide D-pillars, U-shaped LED taillights, and sporty lower rear fascia.
Inside, the O SUV features a high-tech environment. There’s a yoke-style steering wheel, wide triple-screen displays, and a streamlined center console. Honda says it will offer an “ever advancing” space via what’s described as “ultra-personalization optimization” along with a digital user experience (UX) thanks to ASIMO OS.
O Saloon
Billed as the flagship vehicle of the new O Series, the O Saloon is sure to stand out on the street with its sleek and low stance. A production model based on the prototype is expected to be launched in late 2026 for North America, followed by Japan, Europe and other markets.
While retaining the silhouette of the concept, the O Series prototype sports a number of design enhancements. For example, swing-up doors are replaced with conventional doors. Front styling gains new lighting with retractable headlight covers. The Honda “H” mark is repositioned above the “grille,” while the lower front fascia has wide, horizontal light bars.
The prototype’s dramatic wedge-shaped rear profile advances the styling of the O Saloon concept. Massive D-pillars and a solid rear roof panel frame the narrow rear glass, while an embedded 3D lighting signature includes the Honda script logo.
Honda provides the driver and passengers of the O Saloon with a spacious cabin. The architecture presents a light and airy look, while the driver and passengers are treated to sporty and supportive seating. Along with the yoke steering wheel and electronic steer-by-wire, the driver can access information and entertainment via the triple screen dash displays.
Honda says the new O Series will “surprise and inspire people all around the world, just as ASIMO did.” The next-generation of electric vehicles is said to combine robotic tech with advanced intelligence, offering software defined vehicles that are reported to be unique to Honda.
