Nissan Aura NISMO RS Concept with e-POWER – Tokyo Auto Salon 2026

By Steve Laser

Nissan introduced the new Aura NISMO RS Concept during its press conference prior to the public opening of the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026.

Based on the current Japan-market Aura NISMO, the RS Concept significantly enhances the performance and styling, resulting in a “hot hatch” that Nissan says has the potential to become a future production model.

Starting on the outside, the concept receives more aggressive styling with extra-wide fenders (+145 mm), a lowered ride height (-20 mm), and Dark Matte NISMO Stealth Gray paint. Custom-designed components also include the front spoiler, side skirts, rear diffuser, and a large rear spoiler.

A high-output e-POWER system is sourced from the Nissan X-Trail NISMO. The production Aura NISMO 4WD has a 1.2-liter engine with 60 kW (82 PS), plus front and rear electric motors with 100 kW (136 PS) / 60 kW (82 PS). The X-Trail NISMO 4WD features a VC Turbo 1.5-liter engine with 106 kW (144 PS), and front/rear motors with 150 kW (204 PS), and 100 kW (136 PS).

The concept also includes NISMO tuned e-4ORCE all-wheel drive. Larger brakes, with opposed-piston calipers, are said to ensure confident stopping power despite a roughly 100 kg weight increase vs the Aura NISMO. The RS concept rides on good-looking 18-inch NISMO LM GT4 wheels, wrapped with 245/45R18 Michelin® Pilot Sport 4 tires.

Aura NISMO Interior (regular production model)

While details regarding the RS concept’s interior were not announced, Nissan does feature interior photos of the regular production Aura NISMO’s cabin on its newsroom website.

The above photo shows the optional NISMO-tuned Recaro® front sport seats with leather/Alcantara® trim. Aura NISMO is fitted with a 12.3-inch NISMO Advanced Drive Assist Display, while a BOSE® Personal Plus Sound System is optional.

Notes: The Nissan Aura NISMO RS is a concept vehicle and is not for sale. Features and specifications for the regular production Japan-market Aura NISMO are subject to change without notice.
