New Honda Prelude Goes On Sale In Japan – Customize It With Honda Access

By Steve Laser

The all-new, sixth-generation Honda Prelude has gone on sale in Japan, and Honda Access is offering an array of genuine accessories to customize and personalize the exterior and interior of the hybrid hatchback.

With the theme of “Unlimited Glide Plus Sports Essence,” the Prelude can be enhanced with new accessories including a grille molding, lower front skirt with a canard-type design, black emblems, and door mirror covers.

The rear view highlights the new Prelude Sports Style tailgate spoiler accessory featuring a three-dimensional style, finished in Berlina Black, that brings to mind the wing of a glider.

Honda Access says that the rear spoiler is “the most popular genuine Prelude accessory ever, and has been a key focus of Honda Access since the second-generation Prelude.”

The accessorized Prelude in the photos also features available 19 x 8-inch, MS-051 alloy wheels, with machined clear and Berlina Black finish, along with a matching set of available H-mark wheel center caps.

Prelude interior accessories include premium floor mats, LED pattern projector, side step garnish, two-camera set of smartphone-linked drive recorders, luggage tray, parcel cover, door handle protection film, and LED tailgate light.

New Tamiya Prelude Scale Model Kit

In separate news, Honda Access has announced that the Prelude accessory rear spoiler has been reproduced, and is included, with a new model kit by Tamiya Co., Ltd.

The 1/24 scale Prelude plastic model kit is expected to be available in Japan to segue with the launch of the full-size car this month.

According to Tamiya, the assembled kit measures 189mm long, 87mm wide, and 57mm tall. Prelude enthusiasts who purchase the kit can build it with a wide assortment of highly detailed parts, including the miniature rear spoiler.

The kit is said to include a detailed exterior, chassis components, full interior with folding rear seats, an opening tailgate, tires, decals, and three pieces of luggage, with a suitcase, golf bag, and Boston bag.

Tamiya offers a wide selection of plastic scale model kits, along with a lengthy history. The second-generation Honda Prelude 1/24 model kit was originally available from Tamiya starting in May 1983.

Note: Launch timing and availability for Japan market accessories and model kits is subject to change without notice.
