2027 Acura RSX Preview – Technology Accelerates with New EV and ASIMO OS

By Steve Laser

Acura held the world premiere of the all-new, all-electric RSX Prototype during 2025 Monterey Car Week events in Calif. – The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering, and Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Production models of the sporty, high-tech EV are expected to go on sale in the second half of next year.

The new RSX shared the stage with three iconic examples of the Acura NSX (above). To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the NSX, Acura displayed a 1995 NSX-R (left), a 1999 Zanardi Edition (right), and a custom-built NSX Roadster that appeared in Marvel’s “The Avengers”.

The dynamically styled RSX is an important addition to the Acura lineup. It will be the first to ride on Honda’s new EV platform, to be shared with other future Honda models. And it will be the first to feature Honda’s new ASIMO OS technology.

With sporty, coupe-like styling, the RSX Prototype’s design is influenced by the Acura Performance EV Concept introduced at last year’s Monterey Car Week. Styling cues include an evolution of Acura’s diamond pentagon front fascia, unique upper and lower LED lighting elements, 21-inch alloy wheels, wide taillights, and a small rear spoiler.

RSX features dual-motor all-wheel drive, double-wishbone front suspension with sport tuning, and Brembo brand brakes. Battery details, estimated driving range, and charging times have yet to be announced. The RSX is designed to offer mobile energy storage, with the ability to power devices such as appliances (V2L), along with providing back-up power for homes (V2G).

Interior photos of the RSX Concept, and future production model, are not yet available. It will likely sport a modern cabin design, fitted with Acura’s signature premium comfort and convenience features, along with the latest infotainment systems, plus the new ASIMO OS.

The RSX will be built at Honda’s Marysville, Ohio, plant that features a flexible production system, allowing gas engine, gas-electric hybrid, and full EVs to be manufactured.

ASIMO OS

Acura RSX is planned to be the first model equipped with the new ASIMO OS vehicle operating system. Honda announced the creation of ASIMO OS at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas during the premiere of the new Honda O Saloon (below).

ASIMO OS pays homage to Honda’s friendly humanoid walking robot, ASIMO, that first appeared more than 20 years ago. “With the ability to run various applications on the Acura RSX, similar to operating systems found on smartphones, ASIMO OS will offer a personalized experience that will enhance the joy of driving and the ownership experience,” says Acura.

Note: The Acura RSX shown in this story is a prototype. Launch timing for future U.S. models is subject to change without notice.
