Toyota Launches C-HR in Japan – Customize it with Toyota, TRD and Modellista Parts

By Steve & Tamami Laser

When we first saw the production version of the new Toyota C-HR, we knew it wouldn’t be long before custom parts and accessories made their debut. While we have to wait until next spring for the C-HR to go on sale in the U.S., the official launch in Japan takes place today.

tchjp102Toyota says more customers are placing greater emphasis on the interior and exterior styling of vehicles within the compact SUV market segment. The exterior design with a “Sensual Speed-Cross” concept features a diamond architectural theme. The three-dimensional structure created by the contrast between the tapered body together with pronounced flaring of the wheel arches gives the new C-HR crossover a distinctive outline with a powerful stance.

From there, Toyota Technocraft offers customers the chance to take it to the next level with the TRD “Extreme Style” look. Based on the image of extreme outdoor sports, more muscular and blacked-out fender arches make the C-HR’s ride height appear higher without raising the vehicle.

tchtr103The lower front spoiler, grille insert, over fenders, 18-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, mud flaps and wheels are sold separately. By the way, Toyota says its monthly sales target for the regular production C-HR is 6,000 units. It will be sold through the full network of Toyota dealers in Japan, including Toyota, Toyopet, Toyota Corolla and Netz. That means there are lots of opportunities for customizing.

The TRD “Aggressive Style” kit delivers a different look with a customized street-smart stance. This design offers two versions of a lower front spoiler with integrated LED lights, size sill extensions, rear diffuser, grille insert and more. TRD offers a lengthy parts list for customers in Japan that includes many more C-HR items.

tchjp100The new C-HR, offered in a rainbow of colors, is built at the Iwate Plant of Toyota Motor East Japan, Inc. For the European market, the C-HR will be assembled at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey with deliveries expected to start next month in the U.K.

tchjp101The C-HR has a very modern interior right out of the box. Of course, there are opportunities to dress up and personalize with a variety of parts and accessories. For example, Toyota in Japan offers T-Connect navigation with a choice of a 7-inch or 9-inch screen.

Features and specifications for Japanese market models are subject to change without notice.
