We’ve been dreaming about compact camper vans that could fit into our garage. The Toyota Proace Lerina, and Volkswagen California Ocean, are perfect candidates, yet they’re not available in America.
Now Nissan has joined the party with the new NV300 and NV200 campers introduced at the Madrid Motor Show in Spain.
Three Nissan commercial vehicles can be transformed into camper vans by Nissan’s conversion partner, BRAM Technologies SA, in Barcelona. The NV300 (above) is powered by a 1.6L dCi diesel engine and built at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Sandouville, France.
BRAM converts the NV300 into a camper that can sleep four. In addition to the pop-top roof that allows passengers to stand up inside when the van is parked, it’s easily transformed into a mini family room with swiveling front seats, a sliding second-row seat and a table.
When it’s time for lunch, dinner, or a snack, the van offers a mini kitchen fitted with a fridge, sink, water supply, storage space, and gas installation.
Then, when it’s time to turn out the lights, the second-row seat folds down into a cozy bed for two. The NV300 also offers an additional double bed under the pop-top.
The NV200 (above) and its all-electric sibling e-NV200 are built at Nissan’s plant in Barcelona and sent to BRAM for camper conversion. This van looks familiar to us since Nissan sells a gas-powered NV200 cargo van in the U.S.
Nissan Introduces Extended-Range e-NV200
Nissan’s recently upgraded Barcelona-built electric e-NV200 cargo and Evalia passenger vans feature a new 40kWh battery.
Nissan says it has “extended driving range, allowing customers to drive up to 301km (city WLTP cycle) on a single charge. This represents an increase of more than 60 percent compared to the previous generation.”
Nissan Barcelona has been the global manufacturing site for the e-NV200 since 2014 with more than 18,000 of the originals sold worldwide (not available in America). Nissan has started shipping the vans to customers in Europe and Hong Kong, with deliveries expected to follow in Japan by the end of the year.
Now our wish list has grown even longer. In addition to wishing for the likes of a compact camper like the NV300 or NV200, we wish that Nissan would bring its all-electric cargo and passenger vans to America as well.
