2021 Nissan Rogue Platinum Preview – All-New with High-Tech Style and Luxury Features

By Steve & Tamami Laser

Nissan has revealed the 2021 Rogue, a completely revamped, next-generation version of its top-selling model in the U.S. Expected to go on sale this fall, Nissan says the Rogue is the first of five new or redesigned models that it plans to roll out in the next year. The redesigned Rogue offers customers the choice of four trim levels: S, SV, SL, plus the new range-topping Platinum. All can be equipped with front- or Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.

Rogue gains new styling inside and out, and rides on a new CMF-C/D platform with a more rigid body. The “Modern Strength” design theme delivers standard multi-level LED headlights, an evolved V-motion grille with an active grille shutter, plus LED fog lights on SL and Platinum.

Athletic styling continues at the side with big fender flares, a high beltline, “floating roof,” and sporty alloy wheel designs up to 19-inches. A new motion-activated tailgate is available that opens automatically, when hands are full, by kicking a foot under the rear bumper.

Motivation is supplied by a new 2.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine with Direct Injection (shared with the Altima) teamed with an Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission. The engine is rated at 181 horsepower @ 6,000 rpm, and 181 lb.-ft. of torque @ 3,600 rpm (an increase of 11 hp and 6 lb.-ft.).

Additional new features include a Vehicle Motion Control system with Drive Mode selector, Rack Electric Power Steering with quick gear ratio, and multi-link rear suspension.

The Rogue’s new interior features premium design touches including Nissan’s Zero Gravity seats. Photos show the Platinum model with its luxurious, quilted semi-aniline leather-trimmed seats with memory settings for two drivers.

Rear seats have a split one-touch folding design with an available remote-fold feature for added versatility. Newly available Tri-Zone Climate Control lets rear passengers set their own temperature independent from the front. The roomy cargo area offers 39.2 cu. ft. of space with the rear seat up and 74.1 cu. ft. with the seat folded down.

The 2021 Rogue offers an array of high-tech features including a new 10.8-inch head-up display, plus an enhanced version of ProPILOT Assist with next-generation radar and camera technology. With its available Navi-link map data, Nissan says ProPILOT has the ability to proactively reduce speed for curves and junctions, and slow down for freeway exits.

Another new feature is an available 12.3-inch Digital Dashboard with customizable digital gauge cluster. It includes specially designed background graphics with enhanced image quality and contrast.

High-tech goodies continue with the available 9.0-inch “floating” center touchscreen with Intelligent Around View® Monitor, NissanConnect® with wireless Apple CarPlay®, plus Google Maps and Waze, along with voice commands and SiriusXM® Satellite Radio.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 features for Rogue include Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, High-Beam Assist and Rear Automatic Braking. Nissan’s Intelligent Driver Alertness technology adds Rear Door Alert, Blind Spot Intervention, and Traffic Sign Recognition.
