2016 Honda Civic Coupe Revealed – 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show Preview

The Honda Civic Coupe has a huge base of loyal fans who have been waiting to see the all-new 2016 model. Today Honda revealed the first official photos of the all-new Coupe ahead of its premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Preparing to launch next March, the new model sports a sleeker look with a lower roofline, more compact form and signature taillights to distinguish it from the new Civic Sedan.

2016 Honda Civic CoupeHonda says the 2016 Civic Coupe delivers an even sportier and more emotional take on the new Civic design while benefitting from a multitude of upgrades to the 10th-generation Civic lineup, including a sporty new chassis, and more spacious and refined cabin.

2016 Honda Civic CoupeThe new Civic Coupe, like its sedan counterpart, will feature two new engines, including the first-ever turbo. All models also receive upgrades to the interior with soft-touch materials and higher-grade finishes, and new standard and available features, including Honda Sensing™ safety and driver-assistive technologies plus Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.

2016 Honda Civic CoupeThe Coupe features the sporty character of the new Civic, including a bold front fascia, fastback profile and sharp-edged detailing, as well as more athletic proportions with a stretched wheelbase (+2.9 inches), wider body (+1.9 inches), shortened front overhang (-1.4 inches), and wider stance.

2016 Honda Civic CoupeFrom the A-pillars rearward, the Coupe features unique styling with a lower and more steeply raked roofline and more compact proportions, with rear overhang and overall length shortened by 5.5 inches. The new Coupe also gains an exclusive rear taillight design that carries the arch of the C-shaped LED taillights across the full length of the deck lid.

2016 Honda Civic CoupeHonda says the Coupe will launch with two more powerful and fuel-efficient powertrains. There’s a new 2.0-liter DOHC i-VTEC™ engine with 158 horsepower and 138 lb.-ft. of torque (1) and anticipated EPA fuel-economy ratings of 31/41/35 mpg (2) (city/highway/combined) with a CVT. This engine can also be equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The new 1.5-liter DOHC direct-injected Turbo puts out 174 horses and 164 lb.-ft. (3) with anticipated EPA ratings of 31/42/35 mpg (2).

2016 Honda Civic CoupeInterior space grows by 8.4 cubic feet and rear seat legroom is increased by more than 5 inches. The new interior sports a one-piece, soft-touch instrument panel with molded stitching, premium seat fabrics, a new color TFT meter, door inserts with real stitching, an LED shift indicator, and LED overhead lighting.

2016 Honda Civic CoupeNew standard equipment includes auto on/off headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, automatic climate control, Electric Parking Brake with Brake Hold and Walk-Away auto door locks. New available features include Honda LED headlights, remote engine start, heated front seats, and rain-sensing wipers.

The new Civic Coupe offers an Android OS-based, 7-inch Display Audio touch screen, streaming such as Pandora®, SiriusXM® and HD Radio™, and with Display Audio, full compatibility with Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®. Highest trims will also feature a new Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ developed in cooperation with Garmin.
